The United Kingdom Police have arrested former prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, brother of King Charles III, on suspicion of misconduct in public office, in the wake of reports that Andrew sent trade reports to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein in 2010.
Thames Valley Police said it was looking into reports that the former Prince Andrew sent trade reports to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein in 2010.
“Following a thorough assessment, we have now opened an investigation into this allegation of misconduct in public office,” the statement said. “It is important that we protect the integrity and objectivity of our investigation as we work with our partners to investigate this alleged offence.”
The development follows the release of millions of pages of documents obtained through a U.S. investigation into Epstein.
The newly published files reportedly prompted renewed scrutiny of Andrew’s past association with the disgraced financier.
Andrew has denied any wrongdoing and previously expressed regret over his friendship with Epstein.
In 2019, Andrew relinquished all official royal duties. In October 2025, King Charles removed Andrew’s title of prince over his close ties with Epstein.
He was ordered to leave his royal mansion recently.
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s friendship with Epstein has been the subject of intense public debate. In 2022, the former prince settled a lawsuit filed by Virginia Giuffre, who accused him of sexually abusing her when she was a teenager. Giuffre died by suicide in April 2025.
