President Donald Trump said Tuesday that Iran has conveyed a sense of urgency over the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, apparently referring to mounting internal and economic pressures the Islamic Republic may be facing.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said Tehran had indicated it is confronting a “state of collapse” and was seeking the immediate restoration of maritime access through the strategic waterway.
“They want us to ‘Open the Hormuz Strait’ as soon as possible, as they try to figure out their leadership situation,” Trump wrote, adding that he believed Iran would be able to stabilize its internal dynamics.

The president did not provide details about the communication or specify how the message was conveyed.
However, his remarks appeared to point to the economic strain Iran may be experiencing amid ongoing U.S. restrictions on maritime trade linked to its ports.
