In a major announcement, U.S. President Donald Trump announced Thursday evening that he has cancelled scheduled strikes and bombings against Iran, stating that discussions with the Islamic Republic have reached the highest level of Iranian leadership and received approval.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said that in his capacity as President of the United States, he had called off the planned military action.
“Discussions and final points have been, in both concept and great detail, approved by all parties involved,” Trump wrote, naming the United States, Israel, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Turkey, Pakistan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, Egypt, and others.
The president did not specify the exact nature of the agreement or provide details on the points approved.

His statement came as a relief to the Middle East and the world beyond as the latest flare-up threatened to deepen regionwide turmoil and hold international shipping and energy trade hostage to the conflict.
Trump added that the naval blockade on Iran “will remain in full force and effect until this Transaction is finalized.” He stated that the time and place of a signing would be announced shortly.
The announcement marks a significant shift after days of escalating rhetoric in which Trump had warned of impending strikes on Iranian territory. Earlier this week, he had suggested US control over Iranian oil infrastructure, including Kharg Island.
It remains unclear what prompted the Iranian leadership’s reported approval or what concessions, if any, were made by either side. The White House did not immediately provide additional details.
Neither Iran’s Foreign Ministry nor its Supreme National Security Council has publicly commented on Trump’s statement.
