While he expressed willingness to collaborate with the president when it would benefit New York, Cuomo remained critical of any federal policies that could harm the city or state. He dismissed the reports of discussions about his mayoral bid with Trump as “false” and “gossip.”

In a public address, Mamdani denoted the gravity of the alleged conspiracy, referencing Federal Plaza as a symbolic site for New Yorkers affected by recent events. He reiterated his concern about the implications for the city and the upcoming mayoral race.

“We are standing in front of Federal Plaza, the very site where New Yorkers are being stolen—whether from their families, their friends, or from the city that they call home. It is at this very site that we understand the cost of this news: that former Governor Cuomo has been conspiring with President Trump about the fate of this city, about the future of this city, about the facts of this race,” Mamdani said in a public address.  Ex-governor

Andrew Cuomo termed reports that he discussed his mayoral bid with President Trump as “false” and “gossip.”

“I’ve never spoken to him about the mayor’s race,” Cuomo said.

President Trump has also denied the report.

A self-described Democratic Socialist, Mamdani presented himself as the only candidate worthy of being elected given Adams allegedly being compromised in quashing a criminal case.

“The fact is, the president has three candidates in this race,” he said.

“One that he’s directly been in touch with, another that he bailed out of legal trouble and now functionally controls and the final one literally being a member of the same Republican Party.”

Mamdani criticized both the ex-Governor Cuomo, who resigned after corruption and sexual harassment charges, and Mayor Adams, who has been accused of entering into a corrupt deal with Trump.

“New Yorkers do not want a mayor who is working in tandem with the president to subvert the will of the people of this city,” Mamdani said Thursday.

The mayor says believes Trump “loves New York” and in an oblique reference to Mamdani remarked that the president’s potential involvement is about stopping the Democratic nominee.

“I think everyone sees, you know, the threats we’re facing,” Adams said.
