Light and Peace, a poem by Ali Imran

When I see the light and heat

spread each morning,

I wonder if it means

that it’s enlightenment and warmth,

of soul and heart,

that ignites the renewal of life

with all its promises and prowess.

But, then, I cringe to think

if we have the courage

to imbibe and share

the light and warmth

for peace within

and peace without?

Ah, we’ve been deep into

our wars of attrition

against each other,

against Nature,

against ourselves!

Will we ever end

the long night of

pretexts

and procrastination?
