The sons of jailed former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan say they are increasingly concerned about their father’s health, claiming authorities have prevented family members, lawyers and doctors from seeing him for months, according to an exclusive interview with CNN.
Khan has been imprisoned for three years, and his sisters have charged that the government has denied a court-ordered meeting with him for several months.
According to the latest reports attributed to his party on Sunday, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Imran Khan was rushed to hospital after he had high blood pressure. Views News Now is reaching out to officials for confirmation of the news.
Speaking to CNN from London on the third anniversary of Khan’s arrest, Kasim Khan and Sulaiman Isa Khan said they had received “no updates” on their father’s condition because and echoed allegations that the popular leader’s family, legal team and doctors had been denied access to him for the past seven months.
The allegations come as thousands of supporters of Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party staged demonstrations across Pakistan demanding the release of the former prime minister and his wife, Bushra Bibi.
His supporters accuse Islamabad of keeping Imran Khan in solitary confinement.

Khan, one of the most celebrated cricket stars around the world, served as Pakistan’s prime minister from 2018 until his removal through a parliamentary no-confidence vote in 2022.
He has been imprisoned since 2023 after being convicted in multiple cases, including corruption and revealing state secrets.
Khan and his supporters have consistently maintained that the charges are politically motivated, an allegation denied by the government.
Kasim and Sulaiman, who have lived in the United Kingdom since their parents’ separation in 2004, said they have repeatedly tried to travel to Pakistan but have faced difficulties in renewing their National Identity Cards for Overseas Pakistanis, which they say have expired. They argue that administrative delays have effectively prevented them from visiting their father.

Pakistan’s Ministry of Information rejected those claims, telling CNN that both brothers hold overseas Pakistani identity cards and therefore do not require visas to enter the country. The ministry described the brothers’ allegations as “misleading” and accused them of turning an administrative process into political point-scoring.
The ministry did not directly address the brothers’ claim that their identity documents had expired and had not been renewed.
The Pakistani government also strongly denied allegations that Khan has been held incommunicado or deprived of medical care.
In a statement provided to the channel, the government said Khan has had repeated access to family members, lawyers and doctors in accordance with prison regulations and court orders. Officials said his most recent telephone conversation with one of his sons took place on March 21, 2026, and described his health as “oriented and stable,” adding that he continues to receive medical treatment and follow-up care.

The government further rejected claims that Khan is being held in harsh conditions, saying he occupies a dedicated prison compound with multiple rooms, outdoor space, exercise equipment and other facilities appropriate for a high-profile inmate.
Human rights organization Amnesty International has called on Pakistani authorities to restore Khan’s and Bushra Bibi’s access to their families and legal representatives. The group also urged authorities to ensure adequate medical care and end what it described as their unlawful solitary confinement.
The case remains politically sensitive in Pakistan, where Khan’s imprisonment has deepened divisions between his supporters and the government led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Following Khan’s removal from office, his PTI party said it faced a sweeping crackdown that included arrests of senior leaders and restrictions on its political activities.
The brothers said they do not expect their father to negotiate a political settlement that would secure only his own release while other PTI members remain imprisoned.
“We’re trying, we’d like to go, but nothing’s coming through,” Kasim Khan told CNN, adding that the family remains deeply concerned because they have not been provided with recent independent information about their father’s health.
Islamabad continues to reject allegations of political persecution, insisting Khan is being treated in accordance with the law and prison regulations.
