Cristiano Ronaldo Steps Off the Pitch and Into Scripted Drama

Cristiano Ronaldo is adding a new line to his résumé.

The Al-Nassr forward and five-time Ballon d’Or winner is preparing for his first scripted acting role in a British television drama titled Day 1s.

One of the most popular sportsmen of the modern era will also serve as an executive producer on the project.

A Football Icon Turns Producer and Performer

According to a report in The Sun, Ronaldo will both appear on screen and help steer the series through UR•Marv Studios, the production company he co-founded with filmmaker Matthew Vaughn.

The venture marks the first scripted project to emerge from the partnership. At 41, Ronaldo continues to play for Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia and represent Portugal internationally, even as he expands his work beyond football.

What the Series Is About

Day 1s examines the business side of British football. Deadline reports that the fictional story centers on an elite U.K. soccer agent named Stanley Dalton.

Acclaimed actor Damian Lewis, known for roles in Homeland and Billions, is set to take the lead.

The original idea is credited to soccer agent Darren Dein. Filming has already begun in London, though no release date has been announced.

Familiar Faces From the Game

The Sun and subsequent coverage in outlets including Hypebeast and Gulf News indicate that football legend Thierry Henry is expected to appear in the series.

Additional reports mention British rapper Dave and newcomer Carlotta Banat among the cast. Matthew Vaughn, the director behind the Kingsman films, is attached to the project through the UR•Marv banner.

A Broader Career Move

Ronaldo’s involvement is not limited to a cameo. By taking on an executive producer credit, he is positioning himself as an entertainment entrepreneur as well as a global sports figure.

The series arrives as the latest step in that transition, following the earlier launch of UR•Marv Studios.
