His party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf and Khan’s sons have been working to secure his release, both in the courts of law and also internationally. His supporters allege that cases against Khan have been politically motivated and have highlighted his plight for being kept in poor conditions in jail.
A three-member bench, led by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi and including Justices Muhammad Shafi Siddiqui and Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb, heard the petitions.
Representing Khan was Barrister Salman Safdar, while Special Prosecutor Zulfiqar Naqvi appeared for the state. After hearing both sides, the court accepted Khan’s bail petitions.

Despite this legal victory, Khan, a former cricketer who captained Pakistan to its 1992 World Cup triumph, has consistently been rated as the most popular politician.
He has been imprisoned at Adiala Jail, where he is serving a sentence in a separate £190 million corruption case involving state gifts.
His lawyers and backers have accused the government, military establishment and courts of not allowing him a fair hearing in the cases. Pakistan military denies involvement in politics.
Besides, Khan also faces additional pending cases related to the May 9 unrest.
The PTI welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision on social media, branding it a “Victory For Imran Khan.”
