Pakistani American Junaid Khan, who is running as Republican candidate to represent Virginia’s District 27 in the House of Delegates, said that if elected, he will work to cut the tax residents pay on their private vehicles.

Khan, who is a successful cybersecurity expert, faces incumbent Atoosa Reaser, a Democrat, for representation in the state’s House of Delegates from the Democratic-leaning district.

“We have to get rid of car tax. Our governor (Glenn) Youngkin is supportive of this,” he told Views News Now in an interview.

He looked forward to working on the issue with the current Lt Governor Winsome Earle-Sears, who is running for Virginia Governor in the November 4 election against Democratic nominee and U.S. Representative Abigail Spanberger.

“We would need a majority in the House to get rid of it once and for all.”

Khan, who is a longtime Virginia resident, has secured support form immigrant communities including Pakistani and Indian Americans.

During his campaign this summer, Khan received endorsement from the American Hindu Coalition in a rare show of support from both South Asian countries amid ongoing geostrategic tensions in the region.

“We proudly endorse Junaid Khan because he embodies these principles in action. As a father, cybersecurity expert and Loudoun resident, he brings discipline, integrity and real-world expertise, not empty politics. His commitment to safer streets, stronger schools and accountable governance reflects the values that American Hindus cherish and strengthens the very foundation of our American republic,” the AHC said in a statement.

In the interview, Khan said, he is honored and grateful for the support the AHC has extended to him and also thanked all the communities for their backing.

Khan also vowed to work with leaders of both parties for the well-being of Virginia residents.
