President Donald Trump on Friday called for an immediate halt to Israel’s bombing of the Gaza Strip, after Palestinian militant group Hamas announced it had accepted major elements of the U.S. proposal to end the two-year war.

Hamas said it would release all remaining hostages taken in the October 7, 2023, attack.

“Israel must immediately stop the bombing of Gaza, so that we can get the Hostages out safely and quickly! Right now, it’s far too dangerous to do that,” Trump wrote in a social media post. Hamas accepts US plan

“We are already in discussions on details to be worked out,” he added.

Earlier, Hamas said it was prepared to release the hostages and transfer power to other Palestinian groups.

However, it noted that certain aspects of the plan—particularly those related to Gaza’s future and Palestinian rights – needed broader internal consensus.

Trump welcomed Hamas’s response, sharing the group’s response on his Truth Social site.

“I believe they are ready for a lasting PEACE,” the U.S. president noted.
