Israel carried out a targeted strike against Hamas’ senior leadership in Doha, Qatar on Tuesday, further escalating its military campaign as ceasefire negotiations over the Gaza war remain stalemated.

In a joint statement on X (formerly Twitter), the Israel Defense Forces and the Shin Bet intelligence agency confirmed the operation, describing it as a “precise strike” on Hamas’ senior figures.

Qatar’s Aljazeera news channel reported that the top leadership of the Palestinian militant and political group survived the attack.

Citing an official Hamas statement, the channel reported that six others, including the son of its Gaza chief Khalil al-Hayya and one of his aides, as well as a Qatari officer, were killed in the Israeli strike. Israeli strike on Hamas

Reacting to the strike, Qatar strongly condemned it as a “cowardly Israeli attack” and a “flagrant violation of international laws and norms,” according to Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed al-Ansari. Israeli strike on Hamas

Meanwhile, UN Secretary-General António Guterres also condemned the Israeli action, urging all parties to focus on achieving a lasting ceasefire rather than further destabilizing the region. Israeli strike on Hamas

“We are just learning about the Israeli attacks in Qatar, a country that has been playing a very positive role to achieve a ceasefire and release of all hostages,” Guterres said during a news conference on the launch of his report on global military spending. Israeli strike on Hamas
