Iran on Saturday expressed cautious optimism over Pakistan-mediated efforts to reach an understanding with the United States, as diplomatic engagement intensified across multiple regional channels aimed at de-escalating tensions and advancing a possible framework agreement.
Iran’s ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, said in a post on X that he was informed of recent “achievements” in discussions with Iranian officials following consultations in Tehran, after receiving a message of congratulations from Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
“With conservative optimism, we can hope that, if the other side is adequately committed, a positive stride is taking shape,” Moghadam wrote.
His comments came after U.S. President Donald Trump hinted that the two countries had made a “lot of progress” in the latest round of indirect negotiations through Pakistan.
A few minutes ago, the Honorable Pakistani Minister of Interior, my dear brother H.E. Mohsin Naqvi, congratulated me on the achievements of the negotiations with the officials of my country after returning from Tehran.

The envoy said any progress reflected Iran’s negotiating stance, its military resolve, and what he described as the “resistance of the brave Iranian nation,” alongside Pakistan’s role as a mediator facilitating dialogue between Tehran and Washington.
He also praised Pakistan’s political and military leadership for their diplomatic efforts, naming Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.

Moghadam expressed hope that Pakistan’s mediation efforts would contribute to “lasting peace in the region.”
Pakistan has in recent weeks emerged as a key intermediary in indirect U.S.-Iran contacts, hosting discussions and facilitating communication as both sides seek a possible interim arrangement to halt hostilities and reopen diplomatic channels.
The latest remarks come amid ongoing negotiations over a potential framework agreement that reportedly includes phased steps on sanctions relief, security guarantees, and the status of strategic maritime routes, including the Strait of Hormuz.
