In shift, Trump urges House to release Epstein files

Amid growing Republican support in the House for release of files in the Jeffrey Epstein case, President Donald Trump urged the chamber to approve the move late Sunday evening, departing from his previous stance.

The issue over release of files related to convicted sex offender Epstein – who died in prison in 2019 – has roiled the MAGA base, while GOP members in the House of Representatives said they would vote to make the files public.

“We have nothing to hide, and it’s time to move on from this Democrat Hoax perpetrated by Radical Left Lunatics in order to deflect from the Great Success of the Republican Party,” Trump said.

In a post on his Truth Social site, Trump wrote, “I DON’T CARE! All I do care about is that Republicans get BACK ON POINT, which is the Economy, “Affordability” (where we are winning BIG!).”

Trump’s statement also came amid public spat with Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a key MAGA voice.

The president addressed the question of division within the Republican party over the issue.

“Nobody cared about Jeffrey Epstein when he was alive and, if the Democrats had anything, they would have released it before our Landslide Election Victory. Some “members” of the Republican Party are being “used,” and we can’t let that happen. Let’s start talking about the Republican Party’s Record Setting Achievements and not fall into the Epstein “TRAP.”
